Nausicaä is an innovative superyacht measuring an impressive 114.2 meters (374'8") in length and is valued at over $350 million. This remarkable vessel was delivered in 2026 by the esteemed and highly regarded German shipyard Lürssen Yachts, known for their craftsmanship and attention to detail in the luxury yacht sector. The yacht was commissioned by the prominent Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa, who is well-known for his ventures in fashion and space tourism, as well as his passion for art and culture.
The design of Nausicaä was orchestrated by the acclaimed industrial designer Marc Newson, whose visionary approach to design has made him a leading figure in the world of luxury products and transportation. The yacht boasts futuristic, aerodynamic lines that not only enhance its aesthetic appeal but also contribute to its performance on the water. Furthermore, Nausicaä is equipped with pioneering methanol-to-hydrogen fuel cell technology, which ensures zero-emission cruising, making it a trailblazer in the realm of sustainable luxury yachting.
Key Design & Performance Features - Futuristic: The yacht's design represents a significant departure from traditional yacht aesthetics characterized by stacked decks. Instead, Nausicaä presents a seamless and uninterrupted silhouette that flows gracefully through the water. Its striking metallic-grey exterior is enhanced by deep bands of reflective glazing, which not only serve to create a visually stunning effect but also help to optimize natural light within the yacht. This design creates a striking, continuous curve that is both modern and elegant, positioning Nausicaä as a true masterpiece of contemporary marine architecture.
Skydome: One of the standout features of Nausicaä is the owner's study, which is uniquely nestled beneath an impressive glass dome. This dome is constructed from seven curved, hot-bent glass panels that allow for an abundance of natural light and panoramic views of the surrounding seascape. This innovative design not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the interior but also provides a tranquil and inspiring environment for the owner to work and relax.
Propulsion: Nausicaä is powered by a sophisticated diesel-electric propulsion system that works in conjunction with twin 500kW fuel cells, allowing the yacht to sustain up to 15 days of zero-emission operation while at anchor. This advanced propulsion system not only minimizes environmental impact but also ensures a smooth and efficient cruising experience. The yacht can achieve a top speed of 20 knots, making it both fast and efficient, which is essential for the modern luxury yacht experience.
Accommodation - Constructed with a robust steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, Nausicaä offers an impressive internal volume of approximately 6,300 Gross Tons. This spacious design allows for luxurious accommodations for up to 18 guests, who can enjoy their stay in 9 exquisitely designed suites, each tailored to provide the utmost comfort and style. In addition to the guest accommodations, the yacht is staffed by a dedicated crew of up to 36 professionals, ensuring that every need of the guests is met with the highest level of service and attention. The combination of luxurious living spaces and exceptional service makes Nausicaä not just a yacht, but a floating sanctuary of elegance and innovation.
